VP Records is proud to announce the release of a brand-new club mix of Sean Paul’s global hit “Temperature,” reimagined by producers Henry Fong and Proppa. The remix will be available digitally on September 26.
Reworked in the style of bass house, the remix emphasises a strong bassline and four-on-the-floor rhythm while keeping the song’s original vocal front and centre. Fong, active on the festival circuit, and Proppa, a Chicago producer rooted in house, combine their approaches for a version aimed at both large-scale and underground settings.
Originally produced by Rohan “Snowcone” Fuller, “Temperature” was released as a single from The Trinity in December 2005. It soared to No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in spring 2006, giving Sean Paul his third U.S. chart-topper after “Get Busy” and Beyoncé’s “Baby Boy.” In February 2025, nearly two decades later, the song reached another milestone by surpassing 1 billion steams on Spotify, joining the platform’s prestigious Billions Club.
Sean Paul says, “It’s great to see ‘Temperature’ still connecting with audiences after all these years. This new remix gives the track a whole new life for the clubs and the next generation of fans.”
The release also coincides with the 20th anniversary of The Trinity, an album that debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and solidified Sean Paul as one of the most successful Jamaican artists on the international stage.
Florida-based DJ Henry Fong adds: “When I linked up with Proppa, we knew we wanted to flip something iconic. After tossing around a few ideas, we landed on remixing one of the most iconic club songs: Sean Paul’s ‘Temperature.’ Once we finished it, we started testing it in our sets, and the crowd reaction was insane. We sent it over to Sean Paul, he loved it, and the rest is history.”
Proppa continues: “From the early talks with Henry about starting the remix to the moment it was stamped official with Sean Paul, this remix has been a full-circle moment. Before he became a friend, I looked up to Henry as a legend in dance music. I was DJing his tracks back when I was just starting out. Getting to work with him on this project has been an honor, and having Sean Paul on board makes it even more special. His music has been burned into my brain since my teenage years in the 2000s. I’m beyond excited that we finally get to share this one with the world.”
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Sean Paul has built a career spanning nearly three decades, with an unparalleled impact on the global music landscape performing in over 120 countries. His relationship with VP Records began in the late 1990s with the release of his debut album Stage One (2000). Subsequent collaborations with Atlantic Records produced a run of four groundbreaking albums: Dutty Rock (2002), The Trinity (2005), Imperial Blaze (2009), and Tomahawk Technique (2012).
Dutty Rock earned the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album and delivered two U.S. No. 1 singles, “Get Busy” and “Baby Boy” with Beyoncé. Sean Paul added another No. 1 with “Temperature” in 2006, and later, in 2016, with Sia’s “Cheap Thrills,” making him the only Jamaican artist with four Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles.
His catalogue includes collaborations with Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Sia, J Balvin, Clean Bandit, Major Lazer, Damian Marley, and many more. His accolades span Grammy Award, MTV Europe Music Award, American Music Award, MOBO Awards, Soul Train Awards, Latin American Music Award, and the Order of Distinction from the Jamaican Government.
In 2025, Sean Paul co-headlined across North America on the Good Vibes Only Tour with Wiz Khalifa and DaBaby and lit up stages at European festivals including Solidays (Paris), Cabaret Vert (France), and Boomtown (UK). Upcoming shows include III Points Festival (Miami) and performances across Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Kuwait.
