Nigerian singer and African Giant, Burna Boy got the Twitter world buzzing with a bold declaration about his status in Afrobeat. The international star claimed that he’s the best to do it since late legendary singer and activist, Fela Anikulapo-kuti. However some fans were not having it and reminded him of the many Afrobeat artists who paved the way for him to shine.
Burna however, stuck to his boast and tweeted a response to the criticisms of the fans. Burna Boy's album, African Giant was nominated for a Grammy in the best World Music category which was won by Angelique Kidjo for her album “Celia,” her tribute to the legendary Celia Cruz, known as the Queen of Salsa. At the Grammy ceremony Angelique dedicated the win to Burna Boy and boasted about Afrobeat and its big stars.
