Young Devyn was born and raised in Brooklyn by Trinidadian parents. She got into the music industry at just 8-years-old when she started recording and writing soca music.
Eventually, this young star was touring and selling out shows with well-known musicians like Bunji Garlin and Machel Montano. Devyn says she still keeps in touch with Machel Montano, who has helped her pay attention to her sound on the stage and also prays with her on the phone.
Her Trinidad background represents everything she does in her music and as an artist.
'I learned a lot from them especially Machel. We had a close relationship. He would be looking forward to seeing me at the show and I would always perform with him. It was never planned,' Devyn told 6ixBuzz.
She’s showcased her talent on Sway In The Morning and reached a huge milestone in 2019, becoming the youngest artist to freestyle on the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher.
Now, 19-years-old, she has been in the industry for 11 years and still says she takes it day by day with everything she does.
Being so young and so successful is an inspiration. She has done and continues to do what many people dream of doing. With her newest EP, Baby Goat releasing June 2021, watch out for big things this year for the artist.
