SóNia Ready for the World

Updated: Aug 2, 2020

So'Nia has proven that it's never too late to follow your dreams and become the singer she had always wanted to be. In her own words "music is my passion, it's inside of me, and I want to share that with the world".

So'Nia knew from a tender age that she was blessed with a great voice, hence her determination to become a successful singer. Her voice mesmerized her family when she first sang as a young child at age three, after which she learned to harmonize with her three sisters, often taking centre stage as the lead singer. Her desire for singing has contributed to her being the confident and bubbly singer she is today.

Born Sonia Williams, So'Nia grew up in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth. While attending high school she and two other schoolmates formed the "SMC Trio", a female gospel group named after So'Nia, Mitzie and Carol. The group quickly became popular in Jamaica, and with So'Nia, as the lead singer, they made appearances at almost every highlight and social event.

Not limiting herself to just singing gospel music, in her late teens So'Nia entered a prominent televised Jamaican Talent show. She placed as one of the top three performers after which she became one of the lead vocalists for one of Jamaica's leading show band, Byron Lee and the Dragonaires.

After moving to the United States, So'Nia took a break from singing. Still, after linking with singer and producer Ed Robinson, she began working in the studio again culminating in the release of her debut album 'I'm Ready'.

So'Nia's music is a fusion of reggae lovers rock, r&b and gospel, hence her last project, the Gospel album 'Yes I Know'. She aims to appeal to all audiences of different backgrounds and cultures and promises to continue delivering.
