Many Jamaicans have gained international success in musical subgenres that haven't been actively created on the island since the 1960s. There have been a number of Jamaican singers that have contributed to some of the most popular songs appreciated by music fans all over the world. Precious Wilson is one of these gifted individuals.

Precious Wilson was born in Jamaica but raised in England before moving to Connecticut, eventually settling in the United States. She had a successful career as a gospel singer during her adolescence before returning to England. Precious cannot disguise that distinctive Jamaican vocal quality that many Jamaican singers in other genres seem to possess.

Wilson became a member of the Silent Eruption, which later became Eruption, and recorded singles produced by Frank Farian. Wilson's debut album for Epic, On the Race Track, was produced by Farian and was released in 1981. Farian was also in charge of the singles "If I Loved You Less" and "I Need You" in 1985. Her song "I'll Be Your Friend" was popular enough to reach the R&B Top 40 in the United States and even higher worldwide.

Precious Wilson, Junior Giscombe, Jazzy B (Soul 2 Soul), Heatwave, Loose Ends, Leee John (Imagination), Eddy Grant, and Carol Thompson were a pioneer of the UK Black music movement of the 1970s and 1980s.

Eruption performed Anne Peebles' classic "I Can't Stand the Rain," which became a huge international success. This was quickly followed by "One Way Ticket," which had a similar level of success. "Raising My Family" and "Cry to Me" are two more hit songs.

She wowed theatrical audiences with the popular musical "Blues in the Night" in addition to her talent for a variety of television and stage roles.

Her Jive Records single "I'll be your Friend" emphasized her appeal on the dance soul circuit. It peaked at number 40 on the Billboard R&B charts.

She followed her triumph with the title tune of the blockbuster movie starring Micheal Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny De Vito, entitled: "the Jewel of the Nile" written by the team of Britten and Lyle, who wrote Tina Turner's big hit "What's Love Got To Do".

The Soviet Cultural Ministry invited Precious to travel to the former USSR. The 55-date concert tour took place in six Soviet republics, with each venue packed to capacity. In 1988, she was the first black female performer from the United Kingdom to go on such a lengthy tour of the Soviet Union.

She wowed theatrical audiences with the popular musical "Blues in the Night" in addition to her talent for a variety of television and stage roles.

Other places he's been are Monte Carlo and many places in Eastern Europe, including the Kremlin, on concert tours. She has performed in a Royal Variety Show in front of HRH Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom.

She has appeared in studio productions and made guest appearances with musicians such as Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, James Brown, Boney M, Michael Bolton, and Little Richard.

Precious presently resides in London and continues to wow audiences worldwide with her lovely soulful voice and dynamic personal presence.
